RAGBRAI

Last Wednesday RAGBRAI went through Story City so my friend Megan and I took the kiddos to see all the bikes.

I think they were a bit overwhelmed by all the people and bikes. I practically had to drag Colin to get him to keep walking. I think he was just trying to take it all in.
Despite the warm weather I think we all enjoyed our outing. It is not everyday the kiddos get to see hundreds of people riding bikes down the road.

Pinterest Projects : Vases

I don't know about anyone else but I love, love, LOVE Pinterest!

I get so many great ideas from the website. I pin a wide variety of stuff that I hope use as inspiration or just plan try to recreate at some point.

So I thought that it might be fun to keep tack of all the ideas/pins that I have attempted to recreate.

That being said here is the first of hopefully many Pinterest Projects posts.

The first project takes me back to December. I made some vases for my sister as a Christmas present. Here is the link of the vases that I found on Pinterest. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the actual vases I made my sister. I will say thought that I thought that they turned out very similar and they were very easy to make.

There you have it Pinterest project post number 1 is finished.

Makenna's Art

Makenna has really been into drawing pictures of certain things lately as opposed to her previous interest in just scribbling.

Rachel's Baby Shower

A while back I got the privilege to help host a baby shower for my good friend Rachel.

Let me just say that almost exactly a year ago I helped host a bridal shower for her. (Needless to say Rach has had some wonderful major life changes in a rather short time.)

All that being said I love to plan a party. I love finding ideas on the internet from what other people have done. Pinterest has been great for inspiration.

Now back to Rach's shower. We decided to go with a 'Sweet Baby Girl' theme done all in pink. Let me just say this was very fun and easy to plan. We decided to do all sweet food in a miniature/baby size. As well as making it all pink.

The decorations were very easy too because pink is an easy color to find a wide selection of products in. We decided to do a baby clothes line, pom poms, diaper cake, and flowers (made from socks and burp rags. Thanks Jamie for the idea.)

Makenna's Garage Sale

Makenna loves to pretend. As in most of her day is spent pretending.

Makenna is very observant. She also has a mama who loves to garage sale.

Combine Makenna's love for pretending and her love for wanting to be like her mama and this is what you get.

Fun on the Farm

Our kids love visiting Papa Jim and Grandma Janelle on the dairy farm.  And we do too. I think that Jared really enjoys watching our kiddos explore, experience, and delight in the same things he did as a boy.

These pictures were taken during our most recent family visit to the farm. Which happened to be Kyla's first visit to the farm.

House Updates : Master Bedroom and Bathroom

I absolutely love the changes Jared made to our master bathroom. Even though this might hold the record for the longest bathroom remodel the end product was well worth the wait. (And the toilet in in our room for many months)

List of updates:
  • gutted master bath
  • new tile shower and floor
  • new vanity, sink and faucet
  • painted master bedroom and bathroom
  • replaced mater bedroom carpet (used the living room carpet we removed)
